Town Agrees to Management Deal with Cape Charles Yacht Center

September 20, 2020 by Wayne Creed 9 Comments

Full performance shall commence January 1, 2021 and shall run through December 31, 2023. Contract may be extended in writing by mutual consent.

The Town will pay the CC Yacht Center on a monthly basis. The funding will include:

Fuel Sales – 60 cents per gallon

Dockage & Wharfage – 40% of Gross Receipts

Electricity Sales – 20% of Gross Receipts

Lease Storage – 30% of Gross Receipts

The basic statement of work includes all labor, office supplies and incidental materials to manage and operate the Town Harbor, including routine maintenance and repairs. Supplies and materials not reimbursed by the Owner will remain the property of the Contractor. The harbor includes 95 slips, 4 THeads, 1,200 feet of side-to dock space, pump out facility, bath house, office, public restrooms, dock side and street side fueling system, boat landing, and parking lots, all within the harbor.

Not everyone is on board. During public comments, waterman Dan Wivell voiced concerns that the idea was not thought through, and there was no real data to back any of this up.

On social media, one reader commented, “The harbor is not losing money… So why are we giving it away? The harbor has sold 20,000 gallons of fuel more than last year already… There is something shady going on here… I still can’t figure out why a town would want to give away it’s only harbor… It doesn’t make sense for the community at large whatsoever.”

This has got to be the absolute worst decision the leaders of Cape Charles have ever made! I told folks 2 years or so ago that within 3 years this town would be giving away the harbor. It doesn’t look like it to most folks, but read carefully what is in the agreement. Eyre Baldwin and cronies get the power yet again.

First, I am not a dooood. I’m not sure what you are trying to get across here. I don’t believe I specified ” come heres” or ” born heres”. I just know there are way too many back room deals going on with our elected ” leaders”. Eyre Baldwin has his hand in everything and I believe there are some pay offs going down. At least act like you have some education when you comment on my posts. Have a great day!

What do you think it is about Cape Charles that serves to draw such a bad element from out of town to Cape Charles?

The fact that Cape Charles has no video surveillance system?
