The Virginia General Assembly mandated moving the Town elections to the November general election date.
The Town opted to move the election, where the next would be in November 2022. The terms for the mayor and current council members would be extended by six months.
The town adopted Ordinance 20210506 providing for the Election of Mayor and Town Council Members in November of Even-Numbered Years Pursuant to Virginia General Assembly Mandate.
