7 thoughts on “Town Looks Into New, Improved Office Space

  1. I was looking at Help Wanted ads online one year. The Social Security Administration was looking for Interior Decorators for full time positions. It seemed sick at the time. I filed it away and one day I was at the Barber Shop telling the story. It just so happened there was a man that worked for them in the chair. He said that if I thought that was something listen to this… He claimed that when an employee of the Social Security Admin reached ‘Manager’ status, they were allowed to have their office redecorated from catalogs and for those with no imagination…the Interior Decorators were on board, full time, to ‘help’.

The offices at 14 Plum, may not be big enough or fancy enough for the egos that use them.

  2. Have they asked about space at the sewage treatment plant?

Seems like it would be a good fit.

  3. Not long ago I read in the newspaper that Cape Charles was in debt because of the TOWNS SPENDING PROBLEM. Naturally the answer was to RAISE TAXES. God forbid the town stop spending so much money!
2 weeks later the town, in all their wisdom, decides that they need to have new offices.
Naturally the town hires a consulting firm to advise them on what to do.
Why does the town need a consulting firm to tell them what to do? Y’all have a manager, a consultant ( Bob Panek), a town planner, an assistant planner (Katie Nunez), a mayor etc..
Y’all can see where I’m going with this right?
These people are all being paid to do their jobs! Maybe they should do their JOBS!
Many years ago I did a little survey of all the incorporated towns on the shore. The only town that doesn’t answer the phone with a real voice was Cape Charles! Cape Charles had more employees than any other town! The historic district is 2 miles in perimeter for Gods sake!
    Imagine how big Chincoteague is!
After hearing me speak during a town meeting, they not only ignored my comment, they actually hired more people!
The town is a CASH COW!
THEY SPEND MONEY LIKE DRUNKEN SAILORS!
Why doesn’t someone ask in a meeting what the indebtedness of the town is?
There is no transparency at all to the money being spent.
I was in the fight to keep the Historic high school.
That building could have housed the library, the police, and the offices with room to spare! But no no no! They claimed they didn’t have the money to repair the building
So the “sold” the building for $10.00 dollars, threw in insurance claim money of over $40,000. and gave the developer a discount of 3/4 knocked off the water hook-up fees!
The town was so broke and had no money for repairs right? About 2 weeks after the town GAVE AWAY THE SCHOOL THEY BOUGHT THE BANK TO USE AS THE LIBRARY FOR OVER 200,000!
    THEN THEY SPENT GOD KNOWS
HOW MUCH TO REPAIR THE BUILDING!!!

The town is clearly being run by MORONS THAT THINK THE MONEY IS BEING PRINTED IN THE BASEMENT!
MAYBE THEY SHOULD SEND THEIR WATER TREATMENT EMPLOYEES TO ONANCOCK TO LEARN HOW TO MAKE WATER Y’ALL CAN DRINK!
SOON the town will be bankrupt then what?
The property owners who actually GIVE A SHIT better get OFF THEIR ASSES, put their mixed drinks down and go to a town meeting and raise HELL!
ALL THOSE PEOPLE SITTING ON THEIR ASSES WORK FOR YOU! MAKE THEM DO THEIR DAMN JOBS!!!
WELCOME TO CAPE CHARLES NOW GET OUT YOUR WALLET!!!
As far as offices go I really think Ray Otten had the right idea. Put them in the fabulous shit building!
We sold our home in Cape Charles because of the way the town was being run and the ignorant tourists.

  4. Don and Deborah Bender, so sorry to see you’ve sold your property in Cape Charles. Your letter and analysis about the failure of our elected officials to manage this town is RIGHT on!
Thank you so very much. I’m a proud “come here” who has lived many places, seen many management styles. This is a lovely, special town and deserves better leadership.
