CAPE CHARLES, Va. — The Cape Charles town manager reported several developments this week in ongoing municipal projects, including progress on the beachfront master plan and potential land acquisition for a new town hall.
The manager met with a beachfront planning consultant to prepare and submit a grant application to secure continued funding for the master planning effort. The grant was submitted Tuesday.
Public input sessions for the beachfront planning project have been scheduled for March 29 at 11 a.m. at the YMCA and April 2 at 5:30 p.m. at the Civic Center.
Officials also continued discussions with a property owner regarding land acquisition for a new town hall and worked with the town attorney to refine a draft land purchase agreement.
Additional projects underway include coordination with the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) on an upcoming Rails to Trails project and correspondence with the Virginia Resources Authority (VRA) regarding the status of railroad property.
The town has not announced timelines for completion of these projects.
