Virginia to allow illegal aliens to obtain driver’s licenses

February 16, 2020 by Wayne Creed 3 Comments

Virginia lawmakers passed legislation in both chambers of the state legislature that would allow illegal aliens to obtain driver’s licenses, a consequence of the state capitol’s newly minted Democratic majority.

Amid a rush before the end of the Virginia General Assembly’s “crossover” deadline Tuesday, lawmakers in both the state Senate and the House of Delegates passed separate bills allowing undocumented immigrants to legally drive on the state’s roadways. HB 1211 and SB 34 both passed their respective chambers Tuesday, the last day legislation could cross over to the other chamber for consideration.

State senators passed SB 34 by a margin of 22-18. The Senate version, which Democratic state Sen. Scott Surovell introduced, permits illegal aliens living in the state to obtain a standard driver’s license, but with certain conditions. The undocumented applicants must prove they’ve filed an income tax return, and the cards would also include text stating that it’s not a valid form of ID for federal, voting or public benefit purposes.

The House version, which Democratic Del. Kathy Tran introduced, passed by a margin of 57-42 and is largely similar to its Senate counterpart. The House bill, however, goes further by calling for the IDs to be conventional driver’s licenses.

Virginia is poised to become the next state to allow illegal aliens to apply for drivers licenses — following in the footsteps of 14 other states. New York implemented a similar law in December 2019, and the governor of New Jersey signed into law a related bill that same month.

Virginia is following in the footsteps of Democratic Socialist governor of New York Young Andy Cuomo, a champion of illegal immigrants, as is seen in the Politico article
“Cuomo heightens pressure on Trump before White House meeting” by Myah Ward on 02/13/2020, to wit:

New York is among more than a dozen states with laws that allow undocumented immigrants to get driver’s licenses, laws that Cuomo said are “in the state interest to keep our people safe.”

    end quotes

Now, Cuomo cannot explain HOW treating illegal immigrants as being equal, or even more equal than born-here citizens or naturalized citizens is in the “state interest,” because the “state” is inseparable from its citizens who do not benefit from Andy Cuomo handing out driver’s licenses to people he knows are here in violation of the law.

But this is the same Andy Cuomo who loves felons as his own kind of people, and who wants to close prisons in the state, to protect the felons from having to actually go there, instead of remaining free, to wit:

“Cuomo wants quicker process for closing New York prisons” posted Jan. 22, 2020 by The Associated Press/WKBW, to wit:

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — New York’s governor is recommending a proposal that would give him the ability to close state prisons on a faster timeline.

The measure is included in Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s budget proposal, which was rolled out Tuesday.

The proposal would allow the governor to close state prisons if he gives at least a 90-day notice to legislative leaders.

    end quotes

Notice how this, like many other “RAM THROUGHS” of Andy Cuomo, was buried in his budget bill, so I could not be questioned by the citizens of the state who are totally shut out of that process.

So Andy is using budget bills to eviscerate our Constitution, while at the same time making himself into a modern-day Augustus Caesar, a virtual dictator subject to no one by himself.

Elections have consequences and voters are to blame.
