The Biden administration will soon fund the distribution of crack pipes to drug addicts in underserved communities for the purpose of “advancing racial equity,” the Washington Free Beacon reported. After news hit the streets, and after several members of the Mirror staff were in the process of signing up for said pipes, the Biden Admin reversed course and said that ‘pipes’ would not be part of the smoking kits.
After the blowback for this ridiculous program, the White House is doing damage control. Essentially, the Biden Administration is both denying the crack pipes would be included in the “safe smoking kits,” while also admitting they don’t really know what’s in them.
Actual Question: Can you put Ivermectin in a crack pipe?
According to the Washington Free Beacon, after the publication of a report, “[the] HHS backtracked in a Tuesday statement that labeled the story ‘blatant misinformation.’ When asked to explain what part of the story was incorrect, a spokesman said the story is ‘misleading and misinformed’ but declined to provide any information to refute the report.”
However, an HHS spokesman told the Free Beacon that it “does not specify the kits’ elements…only the parameters.”
So they don’t know what’s in the kit?
Here’s why crack pipes, in all likelihood, were going to be part of the kits until the blowback from media outlets: previous “smoking kit” programs included crack pipes.
“Existing smoking kit programs in cities such as Annapolis, Md., New Haven, Conn., San Francisco, Calif., and Seattle, Wash., all include smoking pipes,” WFB reports.
We have to say, however, that the lunacy of “safe smoking kits” is that smoking crack is by definition not really safe, and will never be a safe activity, no matter how many euphemisms you use. Also, the Biden admin explicitly states that the program can be used to purchase “syringes” (obviously for heroin users), so why would it fund syringes and not glass pipes for crack users, users that also pass diseases?
What are the details?
The measure is included in the Department of Health and Human Services’ fiscal year 2022 Harm Reduction Program Grant program. In the document, the plan is described as the dispersion of federal government funds for the slightly more anodyne “smoking kits/supplies.”
The distributed kits were apparently to provide safer smoking devices for drug addicts to use when they smoke crack cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, or “any illicit substance.” The supplied pipes will reduce users’ chances of becoming infected.
The Free Beacon reported that applicants for the grant money will be prioritized for selection if they promise to use the funds in “underserved communities,” including where there are largely African-American and LGBTQ+ populations, as established under President Joe Biden’s executive order on “advancing racial equity and support for underserved communities.”
Question: How is this supposed to address the opioid crisis?
Paul R Plante says
It keeps it going so the Biden administration has something other than Putin to wage war on to keep us distracted from just how stupid and incompetent this Biden admin really is.
And let’s face it – those crack pipes were payback for Joe’s supporters for putting him in office in the first place.
Got to keep your supporters happy after all, to keep your favorability ratings sky-high like goofy old Joe’s are today.
Most popular president and best-looking in the history of the world – that’s our Joe.
