  1. For goodness sake. The County appears to never be satisfied, always looking for something else. Years ago Eastville was a busy town and one that could support a full time restaurant. Now, it is reminiscent of a ghost town. Although it is the County seat, there is certainly not enough foot traffic or traffic in general to support a full time restaurant. Louise and Stuart have maintained the Eastville Inn, honored their lease and yet this just isn’t good enough. The way I see it, it is better to have something than nothing at all! I worked in Eastville for over 26 years and have seen many tenants come and go. This was back with there was wasn’t a day that went by that The Inn wasn’t packed for lunch and dinner. You will not see that now! Just a word of advice to the County know it alls, leave well enough alone and stop trying to change something that is working!

  2. The food industry is a damn hard business in which to turn a profit. The Northampton County board of Supervisors knows as much about the restaurant industry as they do about real estate tax assessment.

  3. Do I really understand this correctly…a successful business rents county owned historical property. The successful business maintains county owned historical property. But the county now wants to have a different, unproven business lease this historical property for 20 years in the hopes that… what? They’ll be able to pay the rent every month? They’ll maintain the property for them? What exactly will the county gain? This isn’t about a restaurant or a catering business… its about money. The county thinks they can get more money from a different renter.
