CAPE CHARLES, Va. – The Cape Charles Town Manager held another beachfront master planning committee meeting with the town’s consultant, continuing efforts to prepare for a work session with the Town Council on July 25. The Beachfront working group is focused on redesigning the boardwalk area, aiming to enhance the coastal experience for residents and visitors alike.
The beachfront master plan is a comprehensive, long-term planning document designed to guide the development, enhancement, and management of a beachfront area. It typically includes various components to address the needs and aspirations of the community while preserving the natural environment. Key elements often covered in a beachfront master plan include:
- Vision and Goals: Outlining the long-term vision and specific goals for the beachfront area.
- Land Use and Zoning: Defining how different areas of the beachfront will be used, including public spaces, commercial areas, and residential zones.
- Design Guidelines: Providing architectural and landscaping standards to ensure cohesive and aesthetically pleasing development.
- Infrastructure Improvements: Planning for necessary infrastructure such as roads, utilities, and public amenities like restrooms and showers.
- Environmental Protection: Strategies for preserving and enhancing natural habitats, protecting against erosion, and managing waste and water quality.
- Recreational Facilities: Proposals for parks, playgrounds, sports facilities, and other recreational amenities.
- Accessibility: Ensuring the beachfront is accessible to all, including provisions for individuals with disabilities.
- Economic Development: Initiatives to boost local businesses, attract tourists, and create job opportunities.
- Public Safety: Plans for ensuring the safety and security of beachgoers, including lifeguard services and emergency response.
- Community Engagement: Involving local residents and stakeholders in the planning process to ensure the plan reflects the community’s needs and desires.
The ultimate goal of a beachfront master plan is to create a vibrant, sustainable, and enjoyable beachfront area that benefits both the local community and visitors.
Ah, the CONSULTANT-O-CRACY!
How many consultants does Cape Charles have?
I’m just sad because it was my quiet happy place close by. Now it’s full if out if town cabanas with noone in them, crowded and the usual touristy issues.
Editor’s Note: The most truthful comment we have heard here. We have been sold out by the powers at be.
Cape Charles used to be a wonderful town until it was sold to come-here.
What’s the sell out causing ? A dark almost extinct town coming to life ? Our country sold out to China, a-bit different and far more harmful than changing the beachfront in CC.
Just like the national media Just choke 1 st amendment What a joke
