Over the last several years, the Town has received complaints regarding the parking of boats, trailers, recreational vehicles, etc. on the narrow town streets. With Virginia being a Dillon Rule state, the Town could not pass ordinances to regulate the parking of such vehicles without being granted the clear authority to do so by the Virginia General Assembly. On November 15, 2018, the Town Council adopted a resolution requesting regulatory authority from the General Assembly for the Town to regulate parking of certain vehicles on the town’s streets.
The Town Council workshop has been scheduled for Saturday, February 29, 2020, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the Cape Charles Civic Center located at 500 Tazewell Avenue.
Effective July 1, 2019, the Town was granted the authority, pursuant to Code of Virginia § 46.2-1222.1, to regulate or prohibit the parking on any public highway “of any or all of the following: i) watercraft; ii) boat trailers; iii) motor homes; and iv) camping trailers.”
Councilwoman Burge provided draft language replacing the current language in the Cape Charles Town Code § 42-90 and adding a new § 42-91. The language was reviewed by the Town Council at their January 2, 2020 Strategic Planning Session. Mayor Dize and the Council requested that a public workshop be scheduled on a Saturday to allow the citizens and business owners an opportunity to provide their input regarding the proposed regulation and to help determine whether the regulation would pertain to all the streets within the town or on specific streets.

Thought they were going to fix the reverse angle parking. Looks like a bait and switch.
We need the reverse angle parking in the event we need to beat a hasty tactical withdrawal. If that happens we jump in our cars and take off without having to worry about backing out. When we get to the end of Mason we turn right and turn right again to get out of town.
Makes sense to me.
