The YMCA addressed the Cape Charles Town Council on Thursday, making a plea for $25,000 ($5k a year for 5 years).
The Y is set to have the ground-breaking ceremony for the new facility on Tuesday.
The YMCA will be located at the intersection of Stone Road and US Route 13, at the entrance to the Town of Cape Charles.
The YMCA facility will cost approximately $4.5 million, which it hopes to open in January 2021, including a fitness center, aerobic room, and outdoor pool.
Eyre Baldwin also addressed council, providing an update on the Southwest Mason Ave Development and Dock. Baldwin told council that the group is in the process of requesting that the Army Corps of Engineers allow the dock to be increased in size, reaching all way to the railroad property to the east.
Baldwin noted that the increased size will allow the dock to handle not only larger crafts, but also more than one at a time.
