NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — The body of a man was found in the Chesapeake Bay on Monday afternoon, officials say.
Virginia Marine Police said the body was found floating in the bay around noon.
The man’s body was brought in right outside Little Creek inlet along Shore Drive in Norfolk, and was taken to the Medical Examiner’s Office, where he was identified.

A spokesperson with the Virginia Marine Resources Commission confirmed the man was identified as 54-year-old Edward Blais, of Norfolk.
Officials said Blais was wearing shorts and a short sleeved shirt, and was wearing an unbuckled life jacket.
Marine police said the circumstances under which the body was found leads them to believe this was an accidental drowning. A kayak was recovered nearby and officials believe it belonged to Blais.
Anyone with information should call Virginia Marine Police at 757-247-2265.
