The Historic District Review Board will meet on January 18, 2022, 3:00 P.M.
The board will review a Certificate of Appropriateness for 211 Mason Avenue to modify the Certificate issued on May 20, 2021: Sign Location on Front Façade; Brick Replacement of the Masonite Glass Removal and replace stucco with wood & trim, and to install an awning and replacement of all storefront windows.
The applicant KOOKABURRA LLC, K-Coast Surf Shop contacted the office regarding the previous Certificate of Appropriateness and indicated that some of the existing materials could not be repaired or salvaged. The Zoning Administrator Katie Nunez also informed them that the installation of the sign on the front of the building was not in compliance with the approval issued by the HDRB and needed to be addressed and brought in compliance.
Since the applicant also wants some additional work on the façade which, if approved, would impact the placement of the sign, they were advised to submit an application that details all of the elements that he is seeking to revise from the HDRB May 2021 approval and any new items that he is seeking to address on the façade and we will determine which items will be submitted as a Modification to the Certificate of Appropriateness.

In addition, the applicant indicated that he is also seeking a shed for placement in the rear of the property which he included in his full new request. The shed was handled administratively and requires no review by the HDRB but the other items are fully in the purview of the HDRB.
On 520 Strawberry Street the board will review a Pre-Application for a Certificate of Appropriateness for a new,1½ story, 1,020 square foot residence.
The applicant has submitted sketch drawings and has indicated in the Letter of Intent that the new finish floor will be approximately 30” above the exiting grade to match the prevailing first-floor elevation of the neighboring houses.
