CAPE CHARLES, Va. — The Capital Projects staff reports that significant strides have been made in the ongoing Community Trail Phase 3 project. Contractors have successfully completed all ADA ramps and have started preparatory work for paving. Light poles have also been delivered and will be installed by a separate contractor.
In a recent progress review meeting with the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), the contractor’s seventh pay request was approved. The project is on track for completion by mid-May.
The Capital Projects staff continues to coordinate closely with the VAW project manager on the KW 1&2 pipelines project, which has now been transferred under VAW’s management.
Mr. Panek provided information to the Rails to Trails project team regarding the locations of water and sewer mains within the railroad right-of-way and at the intersection of Fig and Mason streets. This data is essential for VDOT’s ongoing design work.
Efforts are also underway to support the redevelopment of the library building. The Capital Projects staff has supplied the building’s redevelopment contractor with detailed locations of sewer mains available for servicing the site.
Capital Projects is working with Davis Disposal to replace eight trash receptacles behind the library building with a small dumpster, aiming to streamline waste management in the area.
