CAPE CHARLES, Va. — The Cape Charles Historic District Review Board is scheduled to hold its regular meeting on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. The agenda includes the review of several Certificate of Appropriateness applications for modifications to historic properties within the district.
Key items for consideration include:
- 519 Mason Avenue: The homeowner seeks approval to replace eighteen existing 2/2 double-hung wood windows with eighteen 2/2 double-hung vinyl windows. The property is a single-family home.
- 644 Monroe Avenue: An application has been submitted to replace nine existing wood casement windows with six double glider composite windows in the sunroom of the residence.
- 102 Randolph Avenue: The proposal involves replacing twenty-nine existing 1/1 double-hung wood windows with 2/2 double-hung wood windows. Additionally, three existing 1/1 wood windows are to be replaced with three 1/1 vinyl windows.
The Historic District Review Board will evaluate these applications to ensure that the proposed changes adhere to the guidelines for maintaining the historic character and integrity of the district. Community members are encouraged to attend and participate in the discussion.
Are these meetings live-streamed to YouTube as they should be so more people can not only see first-hand what transpires at the meetings, but further, have a literal transcript of the meeting, given that the videos do not lie about who said what to whom.
There is not a damn thing ‘historic’ about either of those properties.
