Cape Charles Harbor Sees Upgrades and Prepares for 2025 Season

CAPE CHARLES, Va.— Cape Charles Harbor is undergoing a series of upgrades and preparations as it readies for the busy boating season and the highly anticipated 2025 season.

The harbor office received a makeover, featuring a refreshed interior and the addition of hot coffee for visitors. Meanwhile, plans are underway to re-seal and restripe the long-overdue parking lot, with quotes being finalized.

Efforts to improve the harbor’s retail offerings are progressing as staff met with Eastern Shore Signs & Apparel to develop merchandise featuring the harbor’s new logo. Additionally, the team began organizing the shed, creating an inventory of tools and equipment.

To address outdoor maintenance, the harbor is securing quotes for a roll-off construction dumpster. Once in place, cleanup efforts and decking replacements will begin. Initial inspections of the decking in front of the bathhouse revealed that stringers will need to be replaced, prompting discussions with Capital Projects Manager Bob Panek to devise a plan for the area.

Electrical repairs are also a priority, with quotes being sought for inspections and repairs to all electrical pedestals. The harbor is preparing to accommodate an influx of transient reservations for the upcoming boating season, underscoring its commitment to providing top-notch services.

Excitement is building for the 2025 Cape Charles Cup, scheduled for August 16. The Broad Bay Sailing Association anticipates 60 boats, and efforts are underway to accommodate as many participants as possible.
