CAPE CHARLES, Va. β The Cape Charles Town Council resumed work on the long-awaited Beach Master Plan during a Wednesday evening work session, following a year-long pause attributed to the holidays and other pressing town business.
During the session, council members reviewed a significantly scaled-back concept of the beachfront plan, which incorporated public and council feedback gathered last fall. This revised proposal marks a departure from the more ambitious version introduced last summer, reflecting a more measured approach to beach improvements.
Town Manager Hozey told the Mirror, “Following a pause last year due to the holidays and other high visibility business being conducted at that time, work resumed on the beachfront master plan with a Town Council work session on Wednesday evening.Β A very rough concept was presented and discussed that attempted to incorporate the input from the public and the council received last Fall.Β This was a significantly scaled back version of the concept that was floated last summer.Β The Council felt that this latest concept was close enough to be presented to the public in an in-person forum to gain further input.Β These meetings are still being coordinated and will be announced soon.
The council deemed the new concept ready for public review and plans to host in-person forums to gather additional community input. Dates for these meetings are still being finalized and will be announced in the coming weeks.
The Beach Master Plan is a key initiative aimed at enhancing Cape Charlesβs waterfront, balancing preservation with improvements to public amenities. Town officials hope the upcoming public forums will refine the plan further and ensure it reflects the communityβs vision for the beachfrontβs future.
