BRIDGETOWN— Music enthusiasts and worshippers alike are invited to a Choral Evensong and Organ Recital on Sunday, February 2, at Hungars Cure Parish. This contemplative service of scripture and music promises a blend of sacred traditions and exceptional artistry.
The event begins at 4:00 p.m. with an organ recital by Mary Dolch, showcasing the 2014 Holtkamp organ. At 4:30 p.m., the Choral Evensong service will feature the Hungars Cure Choir, directed by Eric Dolch Sr., the parish’s Director of Music and Organist.
The musical program includes works by George Dyson, Richard Sheppard, and Johannes Eccard, offering a range of compositions from the 16th to 20th centuries. Evening Canticles in C minor by Dyson, The Pepenbury Service by Sheppard, and When Mary to the Temple Went by Eccard will be performed, along with hymns such as Innisfree Farm, Tallis Canon, and Wie schön leuchtet der Morgenstern.
A reception will follow at the Parish House, providing attendees an opportunity to gather in fellowship.
This service is free and open to the public, welcoming all who wish to experience the meditative beauty of Evensong and the power of the organ.
