CAPE CHARLES, Va. — The Cape Charles Historic District Review Board convened a special meeting on Tuesday, April 15, to consider several Certificate of Appropriateness applications for renovations and new construction within the town’s historic district. All applications on the agenda were approved, with one approval carrying a condition.
At 505 Harbor Avenue, the Board approved plans to construct a rear deck, add a pergola, and install pavers.
At 502 Plum Street, a more extensive renovation received approval. The project includes replacing windows, the roof, siding, and front steps; reopening the enclosed front porch; constructing a second-floor rear addition; renovating the existing side deck; and installing a rear outdoor shower.
The Board also approved the construction of a new single-family dwelling on Mason Avenue, located on Tax Map #83A3-1-547.
At 314 Tazewell Avenue, the Board approved renovations to the front porch balustrades and columns, the construction of an addition to the rear porch, installation of a rear enclosed shower and hardscaping around a proposed pool, and the repouring and expansion of the driveway. However, approval was contingent upon the use of a different privacy screening for the historic first-floor rear and side deck.
The next regular meeting of the Historic District Review Board is scheduled for May.
