CAPE CHARLES, Va. — The Cape Charles Historic District Review Board will hold a special meeting on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at 5 p.m. to review three Certificate of Appropriateness applications involving both alterations to existing structures and new construction within the town’s historic district.
The board will consider the proposed removal of a flue at 209 Monroe Avenue, a minor exterior change that will be evaluated for its impact on the character of the historic structure.
At 425 Randolph Avenue, the application seeks approval to renovate an existing rear accessory structure and replace the property’s fence. The board will assess how the proposed changes align with historic district guidelines regarding accessory buildings and boundary features.
A more substantial proposal involves the undeveloped parcel identified as Tax Map #83A1-1-104 on Washington Avenue. The applicant plans to construct a new single-family dwelling and add a rear outdoor shower. The review will include consideration of the architectural compatibility of the new home with neighboring historic properties and its contribution to the district’s overall character.
