CAPE CHARLES, Va. — The Cape Charles Police Department released its monthly report for May, highlighting a steady level of law enforcement activity and a continued emphasis on community outreach.
According to the department, officers responded to 131 calls for service within the town limits and assisted with seven calls outside the area. There were no felony or misdemeanor arrests reported during the month.
Traffic enforcement resulted in 16 summonses issued, while officers also recorded 24 golf cart interactions—typically involving safety checks or warnings—and issued 30 parking tickets. Officers conducted 80 building checks as part of routine patrols.
The department also continued its support role with five assists to the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office and two assists to the Virginia State Police.
Cape Charles officers logged 40 hours on foot patrol and spent 23 hours on patrol in Bay Creek.
As part of their outreach and safety education efforts, the department conducted a bicycle safety class for students at Cape Charles Christian School. The department also signed a mutual aid agreement with the U.S. Coast Guard during the month, further strengthening interagency collaboration.
