CAPE CHARLES, Va. — The Cape Charles Town Council will hold its Regular Meeting on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, instead of the usual Thursday date, to accommodate the federal Juneteenth holiday.
The meeting, which is open to the public, will begin with a three-minute public comment period per speaker before moving into agenda items.
The New Business portion includes several key items, notably:
- Adoption of the Fiscal Year 2026 Budget and Appropriation,
- An update on the Capital Asset Management Program,
- Amendments to the 2025 Community Strategic Plan,
- An update to Town Code Chapter 28 to align with state law,
- and a discussion of the 2024 audited financial statements.
Town Manager and Council members will offer their comments following the new business section. Each council member will have up to five minutes to speak.
Several announcements are expected at the end of the meeting, including:
- June 19, 2025 – Town offices will be closed for the Juneteenth Federal Holiday,
- July 3, 2025 – A tentative Town Council Work Session,
- July 4, 2025 – Town offices closed in observance of Independence Day,
- July 17, 2025 – Next scheduled Regular Town Council Meeting.
The rescheduled meeting underscores the town’s recognition of Juneteenth, now a federal holiday, commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States.
