CAPE CHARLES, Va. — The Cape Charles Memorial Library recorded 470 visitors and more than 1,000 circulated items in just three weeks, according to a recent report from the town’s Library Manager.
During that period, patrons checked out 1,052 books and materials, reflecting steady winter usage as the library continues to serve as a central community resource for education, programming, and civic engagement.
The library also hosted six public programs, drawing a combined 76 participants.
In addition to daily operations, library staff completed several administrative and planning milestones, including the submission of the Northampton County budget request and the finalization of 2025 annual statistics.
Preparations are also underway for the Spring launch of the library’s Seed Cart, a popular seasonal program that supports home gardening and local food access. Staff are currently assessing seed inventory and preparing supply orders.
Library staff also completed a full inventory of Virginia State backpacks, ensuring updated educational materials are ready for circulation in the coming months.
To support public engagement, the library created and distributed new promotional flyers and expanded outreach through social media to highlight upcoming educational and cultural events.
Several programs are scheduled through late winter and early spring, offering opportunities for history education, literary discussion, and community-wide reading.
