The Northampton County Wetlands Board will hold a public meeting on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, to consider two shoreline protection applications along the Chesapeake Bay in Jamesville and Cape Charles.
The meeting will begin at 8:00 a.m. with site visits to the affected properties in the order listed on the agenda. The Board will then reconvene at approximately 10:30 a.m. in the Board Chambers at the County Administration Building, 16404 Courthouse Road in Eastville, to conduct formal public hearings and receive public comment.
Jamesville Property Seeks Shoreline Protection
The first application, identified as VMRC 2026-0442 and NAO-2026-00424, was submitted by Linda Barlow. The request seeks approval to construct a rip rap revetment and vinyl return wall with corner armor along a Chesapeake Bay shoreline property.
According to the application, the revetment would use Class I and II quarry stone with filter cloth underlayment to stabilize the shoreline. The property is located at 4274 Battle Point Road in Jamesville and is identified as Tax Map 6A-1-5.
Rip rap revetments are commonly used along the Eastern Shore to help prevent shoreline erosion and protect waterfront properties from wave action and storm impacts.
Cape Charles Application Includes Beach Access
The second application, NAO-2024-00367, was submitted by Robin and Kari Pollock for property located on Sand Hill Drive in Cape Charles, identified as Tax Map 104D-1-18.
The Pollocks are seeking approval to construct a rip rap revetment, vinyl return wall, and a “by-right” beach access structure as part of compliance with a previously permitted shoreline project.
County officials noted that the improvements are intended to provide shoreline stabilization while also allowing access to the beach.
Application files are available for public review at the Planning, Permitting, and Enforcement Office in the County Administration Building, Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
