CAPE CHARLES, Va. — The Town of Cape Charles is moving forward with the next stage of improvements at its municipal harbor, issuing an advertisement for bids for the third phase of the Harbor Boardwalk Reconstruction project.
According to the town’s bid notice, contractors have until 11 a.m. Sept. 21, 2026, to submit proposals for the work. Bids will be publicly opened and read following the deadline.
The project represents the third phase of the town’s ongoing effort to reconstruct the boardwalk at the Cape Charles harbor. Earlier phases have addressed sections of the aging waterfront structure as the town works to improve the harbor’s infrastructure and pedestrian areas.
Bids may be delivered to Cape Charles Town Hall at 412 Tazewell Ave. or submitted electronically to bob.panek@capecharles.org.
Contractors interested in bidding can obtain the Invitation for Bid package through the town’s website under its Bid Opportunities section or pick up a copy at Town Hall.
The town cautioned that proposals received after the 11 a.m. deadline will be returned unopened.
Cape Charles also reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive irregularities or informalities in submitted proposals.
The Harbor Boardwalk Reconstruction has been carried out in phases, allowing the town to replace and improve sections of the waterfront facility while continuing broader investment in the municipal harbor.
The Sept. 21 bid opening should provide the first indication of contractor interest and potential costs for the third phase of the project.
