CAPE CHARLES, Va. — The Shriners Parade will roll through Cape Charles Saturday, Oct. 10, and this year’s event is inviting residents to become part of the procession by decorating golf carts, cars and bicycles.
The parade begins at 10 a.m. at Bay and Mason avenues and is being held in conjunction with the Cape Charles Fall Festival.
Organizers are encouraging entrants to decorate their vehicles or bicycles using one of three themes: fall, Halloween, or Eastern Shore heritage and history.
For the Eastern Shore theme, organizers suggest drawing inspiration from the region’s boats, trains, fishing traditions and other elements of local history.
Prizes will be awarded to decorated entries.
Participants must register to enter the parade and select a category when registering.
The parade is part of a larger celebration centered on the theme “Celebrating Our Roots, Embracing the Season.”
Organizers are encouraging participants to get creative, particularly with entries reflecting Cape Charles and the Eastern Shore’s distinctive history and culture.
