CAPE CHARLES, Va. — The Cape Charles Police Department reported 98 calls for service during the latest monthly reporting period, along with six arrests and increased traffic enforcement activity.
According to the Police Chief’s report, officers made three felony arrests and three misdemeanor arrests during the month. Police also issued 95 traffic summonses and 65 parking tickets.
Officers conducted 50 building checks and 47 foot patrols as part of the department’s general law enforcement activities.
Among the incidents handled during the most recent weekly reporting period were domestic disputes, trespassing complaints, suspicious vehicles and activity, welfare checks, residential and business doors found open, a possible DUI, a fight in progress, threats, theft from property and a fraud report.
Officers also responded to an intoxicated female, a mental health-related call and a suicidal subject. Other calls included two reports of debris in the roadway, flooding on a street, a residential alarm, vehicle and residential lockouts, noise complaints and several citizen assistance calls.
One call involved assisting with four males reportedly carrying guns. Police also responded to a wanted subject and assisted the fire department. In another incident, officers responded to a child locked inside a business.
The department reported two arrests of note during August.
On Aug. 2, a woman was arrested and charged with three felony counts of assault on law enforcement, one misdemeanor count of escape and public intoxication.
On Aug. 27, a man was arrested on an outstanding capias.
The charges reported by police are allegations, and defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
