All you can eat seafood social and fundraiser benefiting the Eastern Shore
EXMORE – The Exmore Rotary Club will host its popular Soule Arnold Oyster Roast on Friday night, October 21, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Exmore Town Park, located at 3380 Main Street in downtown Exmore. This marks the fourth decade for the Oyster Roast and the 13th consecutive year for the named event, a much anticipated fall highlight, and one of two annual Exmore Rotary fundraisers benefiting Eastern Shore communities.

This seasonal feast of oysters and clams was originally a member-guest event launched by Rotary Club member Soule Arnold in the 1970s. Soule was a long-time bank executive vice-president with the People’s Trust Bank in Exmore. Following his death, the tradition continued and in 2003 was named for Soule as a living tribute to his community service on behalf of Rotary. Three years later, the member-guest event was opened to everyone and now attracts attendees from as far away as Houston, Texas.
“This is a proud legacy for my dad,” said Tommy Arnold, event chairman. “As a fifth generation Eastern Shore resident, it is gratifying to see the money raised by the Rotary follow the need throughout the Shore.”
Leah Fisher, president of the Exmore Rotary Club points out that all profits from the event flow back into the community. “Currently, the Exmore Club supports 20 different service organizations,” said Ms. Fisher. “The fall oyster roast is an important friend and fund-raiser, with our annual spring auction, held in April, our largest signature event. We rely on both to help build stronger communities here on the Shore.”
The 2016 Soule Arnold Oyster Roast includes all you can eat seaside oysters, “nick” clams, pulled pork BBQ freshly prepared by Rotary members the day of the event, sides presented by the Exmore Diner, and clam chowder provided and prepared by H.M. Terry Brothers, Willis Wharf, VA. The white tent, oysters and clams are provided by Eastern Shore Events and Rentals, in Exmore, VA. Tickets are $40 each, and selling fast.
