It may not feel quite like Spring but The Academy for Lifetime Learning is pleased to announce that registration will soon begin for our Spring Semester. As always, there are some returning old favorites as well as an interesting slate of new offerings.
Our complete course catalogue and schedule can be found on our website (www.allesva.org) beginning on January 15. For a one-time enrollment fee of $25, you can take as many classes as you can fit into your schedule.
One of our new classes this semester is Introduction to Mosaic Art. Students will learn to create a mosaic in two three-hour sessions. Another class for aspiring artists is dedicated to Pallet-Knife Painting. For those with an interest in the History of Women in the Arts. Pianist Lee Jordan-Anders will teach a four-session Zoom class beginning with the Middle Ages and continuing into the Twentieth Century. For those who want more activity in their lives, A.L.L. is offering a series of five guided two-and-a-half hour nature walks through beautiful areas around the Shore. Before taking to the outdoors, you may want to hear entomologist Ellen Stromdahl’s lecture on Ticks of the Eastern Shore. You can learn to play Pickleball, Bocce Ball or Have Fun Kayaking on Onancock Creek.
Many old favorites will be returning. Peggy Swan will once again be showing and discussing Fabulous French Films as well as offering a second class encouraging Better Listening and Communicating. Mary Kay Mulligan will again be offering a cooking class. This time, she will be making Ukrainian Tortes. The above listings are just a small portion of our new offerings and returning favorites. Expand your horizons and join us for a fun and informative Spring Semester. Registration begins online on January 15.
The Academy for Lifetime Learning (A.L.L.) is an all-volunteer organization of individuals who share interests and life experience to provide a rich and varied menu of courses. Membership fees go to pay the limited expenses of the organization. The remaining money is given each year in scholarships to Eastern Shore high school graduates to continue their education.
