The Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade Friday morning, ending the federal right to abortion, and returned the issue to the individual states, where roughly half are expected to limit or ban the procedure altogether.
“We end this opinion where we began. Abortion presents a profound moral question,” wrote Justice Samuel Alito. “The Constitution does not prohibit the citizens of each State from regulating or prohibiting abortion. Roe and Casey arrogated that authority. We now overrule those decisions and return that authority to the people and their elected representatives.”
This ruling was decades in the making, through legal, political, and cultural advocacy. But oddly, the ruling fell on the 9th Amendment…that civil government and the Constitution exist to protect the interests of persons, not the interests of the government.
The brief puts it like this:
The Court’s use of substantive due process to endorse an unenumerated abortion right or “liberty” interest unknown to the common law has negated the continued enjoyment by persons, and enforcement by States, of a common law fundamental right: to life. [This] contravenes the Ninth Amendment’s injunction against construing enumerated rights “to deny or disparage other rights retained by the people.”
The right to legal abortion still remains, just at the STATE level, not federal. This is the point and why Roe was overturned. If you believe in abortion, the fight is where it has always belonged, at the State level. Keeping the Federal Government out of our business is a good thing.
Opinion: Many are like me, basically pro-life (Catholic upbringing), yet never wanted to stand in the way of a woman, or anyone for that matter, that wants to make a decision about their own body. But, people just had to push the envelope. One wonders if Roe v Wade would still exist if Democrats didn’t sue to have late-term, partial-birth abortions. This is called ‘screwing the pooch’. We all could have had safe, legal, and rare abortions. But that wasn’t good enough, they had to go for cutting open 9-month-old babies.
Whether you are pro-abortion or not, this was the right decision legally. We were lied to by the Roe and Casey justices who told you abortion was a constitutional right. This Court provided proper constitutional grounds and the issue now is where it belongs: in the hands of the People.
Now we get to sit back and watch the shite show that is already happening. We haven’t seen leftists this mad since, well, yesterday. Sadly, it will give many people, including governors such as Virginia’s Glen Younkin enough rope to hang themselves. Youngkin wasted no time tying his own noose as he plans to push legislation to impose stricter limitations, if not attempt an outright ban on abortions in this state.
States like Virginia seem to have a common sense approach, where women can safely get an abortion while offering some limitations such as holding off on late-term unless medically necessary. The smart move would be to leave it alone. But, if you want to touch the third rail, you won’t get any sympathy from the Mirror when the citizens run you off.
On the upside, it looks like the Left suddenly knows what a woman is. Pelosi notes, “A slap in the face to women who will now have ‘less freedom than their mothers”. Funny how quickly they throw out the trans-friendly lexicon. Please don’t cut trans men and nonbinary people out of the conversation today. This is not just a women’s rights issue, anyone who can get pregnant is affected.
Biden notes that Republican appointees to the Supreme Court voted for Roe; does not note that Democratic senators, including him, wanted a constitutional amendment to undo it. Do Democrats even know what the decision in Roe v. Wade was about?

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Friday called on President Biden to create abortion clinics on federal land, following the landmark Supreme Court ruling which overturned Roe v. Wade and removed federal abortion protections.
Speaking to a crowd of protestors gathered in New York’s Union Square, Rep. Ocasio-Cortez encouraged people to “be relentless to restore and guarantee all of our rights.”
“I think one of the things that we know, too, is that there are also actions at President Biden’s disposal that he can mobilize,” Rep. Ocasio-Cortez told the crowd.
“I’ll start with the babiest of the babiest of the baby steps: Open abortion clinics on federal lands in red states right now.”
“Right now.”
Representatives for Rep. Ocasio-Cortez did not respond to Insider’s request for comment.
Tying Biden’s inane commentary on the SC ruling restoring authority to the state legislatures and his previous asinine confirmation monologue, Justice Thomas seemed very gracious when he said referencing the latter, “… one of the things you have to do during the hearings is to sit there and look attentively at people you know have no idea what they are talking about.”

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., suggested in an Instagram video Saturday night that pro-life Democrats should no longer serve in the wake of the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v. Wade.
AOC sounded off on the Supreme Court ruling by listing several “action items” on Instagram, including what to do with pro-life Democrats.
“Also, if you live in a blue area, when people say ‘go vote,’ that should include primary elections too,” she told her followers.
“Because, the thing that a lot of people don’t like to talk about, is the fact that not every Democrat is pro-choice.”
“Okay?”
“So, the ones that aren’t, we really need to reassess if it’s appropriate for them to continue to serve in 2022 because people should have the right to control their own body.”
“This is pretty basic.”
The congresswoman said that her guidance should be applied to elections at the municipal, state and federal levels.
Ocasio-Cortez noted that goes for even deep blue states like New York, where some of the veteran politicians serving aid corporations “that finance anti-choice Republicans.”
Several other Democrats and liberal media figures have sounded off on the abortion ruling in the past few days, with Democratic National Committee Chair Jaime Harrison calling the decision “illegitimate.”
“It isn’t up to you, this illegitimate court, or a bunch of state elected officials to decide what happens to a woman’s body… that choice belongs to a woman and no one else!”
“Period!!!” the DNC chairman said.
Pro-life pregnancy centers have also been vandalized in the days following the ruling.
The group “Jane’s Revenge” claimed responsibility for a handful of the attacks and published a letter this month declaring “open season” on crisis pregnancy facilities.

Pro-abortion protesters in Portland, Oregon charged through the city Saturday night, damaging and vandalizing property following the Supreme Court’s reversal of Roe v. Wade.
A crowd of about 60 black-clad marchers stormed downtown Portland, the Hollywood district specifically, “breaking windows and scrawling graffiti,” a Portland police report notes.
“Officers were monitoring the crowd, but did not have resources to intervene in the moment,” it said.
Damage inflicted by the rioters included broken windows on several banks and coffee shops.
Protesters also vandalized a pregnancy resource facility, the Mother and Child Education Center, and broke the windows of and spray-painted a van owned by Portland Public Schools.
“If abortions aren’t safe then you aren’t either,” a flier advertising the march read, Oregonlive reported.
This slogan has, especially in the last month, been loosely associated with Jane’s Revenge, a collective of pro-abortion terrorists that has allegedly targeted dozens of pro-life pregnancy centers nationwide with firebombing and arson.
Earlier in June, activists claiming to represent Jane’s Revenge promised to unleash a new rampage of violence on clinics providing an alternative to abortion, announcing it “open season.”
On a storage box read the phrase “abort the court,” OregonLive reported.
An aide to Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler called the violence “despicable.”
“We need more police,” he told Oregonlive.
“Individuals who engage in violent activity or property destruction will be investigated and are subject to arrest and prosecution. . . .”
“We will continue to conduct follow-up investigations, make arrests, and forward cases to the Multnomah County District Attorney for prosecution,” the Portland police department said.
I can not wait until same sex marriage goes in the same direction.
Back to the original topic of the SC’s decision on affirming State’s Rights, a couple quotes from the SC that originally enabled Federalization of this issue:
SC Justice Blackmun wrote that abortion “must be left to the medical judgment of the pregnant woman’s attending physician” based upon a doctor’s consideration of “all factors — physical, emotional, psychological, familial and the woman’s age — relevant to the well-being of the patient.”
AND from the head of that court on the day the Roe decision was announced:
Chief Justice Warren Burger said, “Plainly, the court today rejects any claim that the Constitution requires abortion on demand.”
The authority of any level of government should be restrained to prevent interference in any health decisions between the patient and their doctor whether it be abortion, Covid vaccines or any government concocted “health excuse” to control its citizens. Medical science and practices evolve almost daily. Neither elected nor appointed bureaucracy are competent to be a third party in the doctor-patient relationship.
