  1. “The Preserve at Bay Creek” has a nice ring to it.

Lets hope with their deep pockets and success with other ” Preserves” they will bring new life to old Bay Creek.

Dropping to 27 holes is a great first move. Hope they continue to keep it open for public use at least in a limited manner

I wondered if they purchased the marina too?

  2. Hmmmmmm………….Business is all about cash flow. Period. You have to keep the cash flowing in to cover all year round expenses. Obviously the previous owner had the wrong plan and/or hired the wrong people to implement it.
Taxes ? Well the tax man has the 1st lien. Since the property just changed hands, any back taxes just got paid.
The press release sure comes across as being well thought out and thoroughly put together. Lots of slick phrases intended to induce a bucolic mindset. Okay. Great. Just Do IT in such a way that brings new folks in at this time and get that cash flowing. Bigger ideas and grander designs necessitate bigger money. This will create bigger invoices to visitors/buyers. Will the new owner(s) attract those bigger wallets ? I hope they do. They bought it and I am sure have no plans to fail.
This place succeeding should do no one harm. Golf courses attract money when the overall pkg. is a good one. Many municipalities in this country have built some for the tremendous cash cow they become. Attracting golfers, who always have above avg. incomes, is rarely a bad idea.
If employees that are retained, or are a new hire, work as directed, and all hands from top mgmt. through all employees are dedicated to the market plan, they will have a new life. Good luck to all !

    1. Very sad news. I live in Northern Virginia and me and the guys try to come down twice a year for the unique golfing experience on two very fine course. Enjoyable dinners in and around town afterwards. Shutting down 25% of the facility will likely keep us more in the Williamsburg area. Sad to see this fine facility decline. Thanks for years of great golf.

  3. For now I simply say welcome aboard and the best for you and Cape Charles . It’s a unique opportunity to do good .

As time goes on issues like shore erosion abatement/control will wiggle back up on the table .

  4. This sounds like a very amazing and ambitious plan. Hoping for a great outcome…. but please don’t forget about the surrounding community of golf enthusiasts who want to just play golf on this side of the Bay. Please open the golf experience to the public even if with limited hours. The golf attraction has been one of the main magnets for the Cape Charles vacationers! Let’s make all the wonderful changes a win-win for everyone!

  5. Myself and family have been coming to Bay Creek since it OPENED. We are here now after missing last year and we are disappointed beyond words. What a hoo doo ! Preserve MY BUTT ! The place looks like Ocean City. Building lots everyone I mean EVERYWHERE ! How’s that for preserving.
Bigger problem among many is the support structure in place to handle the growth. Does anyone understand the unique quality of Cape Charles and it’s culture? Who is going to service this growth ?Do they understand Cape Charles ? I don’t think so. The Tidewater area is not. There’s a 20 mile tunnel bridge between the two. The infrastructure is not here. How about retired people and medical and emergency care ? Duh ?
The draw to the area was the two signature golf courses. They sold out the back Nicklaus course for quick environmental money I assume for cash flow. Not good. 27 holes is not a resort make. Good luck with keeping the golf as a destination for avid players.
Opening up the front Nicklaus course to house it development is just poor planning. It will look terrible to a once beautiful bay front property. Now there will be tight housing everywhere.
Good luck folks. We will it be back
    Jim
