Town Council has reappointed Bill Prickett to another term on the Wetlands Board. His term was set to expire in November. Mr. Prickett expressed his interest in continuing his service on the Board for another term. Bill has been serving on the board for several terms and was instrumental in developing the town’s current Beach and Dune maintenance policies.
Note: The Wetlands and Coastal Dune Board reviews applications for certain activities in wetlands and dune areas. The Boards meets as needed and consists of five members each serving five-year terms.
Heeeeyyyy wait up! Is this the same man that denied the Army Corp of Engineers the ability to replenish the beach with sand from the dredging the Channel, at no cost to the taxpayers? Is he the same man who has cut, the very sand dune he built in half, to widen the beach for the tourist? Isn’t he the same man who had the bulldozers tear down the decking leading to the beach? And isn’t he the same man that is responsible for having the bulldozers in the water pushing sand up from the shallow water line to the beach? Hmmmm something is amidst here AGAIN in Cape Charles
Hello Mr. Luther. It sounds like you are a person who is concerned with good stewardship of Cape Charles Public Beach. It also sounds as if you may be confused about my role in the points that you mention.
When the Corps of Engineers performed the most recent dredging and beach replenishment in 2016, the town elected to reduce the amount of sand placed on the beach from 100,000 cubic yards to 30,000 cubic yards, with remainder placed at the uplands spoils site (along Stone Rd.) That sand is still there. As a citizen, I argued against that decision.
The other items that you mention were initiated and performed by the town. I had no role in them.
You may be aware that there’s a pending ACOE dredging project for Kings Creek which calls for depositing the sand from the project (around 28,000 cubic yards) on Cape Charles Beach. Best wishes.
