The Cape Charles Town Council voted to award Davis Disposal Co., Inc., of Craddockville, VA the contract for waste collection and disposal services. The contract was advertised on September 9, 2021, with the only bid coming from Davis. Davis is the current service provider with a contract expiration of October 31, 2021. The Base bid price came in at $17.45 per container; a $0.77 increase over the current contract.
The contract requires that Davis provide/supply the following services:
-Once a week collection and disposal of solid waste from approximately 1,200, 96-gallon containers supplied by the town and a maximum of two additional bags of solid waste per container for a total of about 120 gallons per container.
-The contractor will provide and service at the public works yard:
a. One eight-yard container
b. Three eight-yard cardboard recycling containers
c. A sufficient number of eight-yard containers to accommodate a collection of about five tons of solid waste per week from municipal trash cans. This waste will be collected by Town employees. The contractor may position a trash truck at the Public Works Yard for this purpose.
