CAPE CHARLES, Va. — The Town of Cape Charles has temporarily closed the Central Park Fountain splash pad after several children fell due to slippery algae, town officials said.
Town Manager Rick Keuroglian directed the Public Works Department to use a stronger treatment than the one currently in place to address the problem.
The splash pad will remain closed until the algae is removed and the area is considered safe for use, according to the town.

You cannot have something like this without proper and constant maintenance anyway. Parents of any child getting hurt should be suing the town immediately.
I sure miss that old water fountain.
Now I guess Cape Charles can be held liable for failure to properly maintain their water park.
I don’t recall anyone getting hurt by that old water fountain. But it had the same problem as the water park. No maintenance! Which by the way is the same for the restroom around town.
Kind of like a pattern with the town.
I can’t wait until the bicycle path gets finished.
Oh wait, more law suits because the town is negligent in their responsibilities for not maintaining their tourist amenities.
I told you so! LMAO
Splash-Pad? Why can’t they splash in the Chesapeake Bay? You people should be ashamed of what you have done to Cape Charles.
Turn it back into a fountain. The splash pad was a pretty stupid idea!
I have videos from two years ago, of our little grandson and his dad running around the fountain, on that splash pad. Maybe something has changed, as far as the cleaning products or process used.
Everything is done backwards in this town. Something needs to change. Starting with town council.
Amen to that.
