CAPE CHARLES, Va. — The Cape Charles Town Council is poised to embark on the next phase of its Community Strategic Plan, setting the stage for citizen engagement and input as the town gears up for the 2024 update.
Since its inception in March 2021, the Community Strategic Plan has served as a guiding beacon, outlining the town’s vision and fundamental goals. Over the years, the plan has undergone annual revisions, with the most recent update in March 2023 reflecting evolving community needs and aspirations.
Preparations for the 2024 update are underway, slated to kick off in late January or early February. Town officials have unveiled an inclusive approach, involving Town Hall-style meetings and soliciting crucial feedback through a comprehensive citizen survey.
“The Community Strategic Plan Citizen Survey has been released to the public, serving as a vital avenue for residents, property owners, and business proprietors to voice their preferences,” shared a spokesperson from the Municipal Corporation of Cape Charles.
The survey, available in both hard copy and electronic formats, covers recent topics pertinent for consideration by the Town Council. Hard copies have been dispatched alongside December utility bills, while additional copies are accessible at the Town Hall and local Library.
Furthermore, the electronic version of the survey is easily accessible on the town’s official website, www.capecharles.org, and its Facebook page (Municipal Corporation of Cape Charles). Mobile users can also access the survey by scanning the provided QR code.

“This is a prime opportunity for community members to actively participate in shaping the future of Cape Charles…Your responses will play a pivotal role in the decision-making process.” – Town Staff
The deadline for all responses is slated for January 12, 2024. Subsequently, a comprehensive report compiling the survey data will be presented to the Town Council and staff for review. A public meeting will also be scheduled to discuss and analyze the gathered responses with community members.
As the town braces for this pivotal phase of strategic planning, all eyes are on the community’s active involvement and contributions to chart a shared path toward a vibrant future for Cape Charles.
