CAPE CHARLES, Va. — The Cape Charles Historic District Review Board has announced its upcoming Regular Meeting scheduled for March 19th at 5:00 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Cape Charles Civic Center located at 500 Tazewell Avenue. Among the agenda items are the review of various Applications for Certificate of Appropriateness.
The board will meticulously assess the proposed projects which encompass a range of alterations and constructions within the historic district. The applications up for review include:
A. FENCE INSTALLATION: None.
B. MODIFICATION TO APPROVED Certificate of Appropriateness:
- 110 Tazewell Avenue: Blake and Sara Manners represented by Coastal Craftsman Builders – Proposed modifications include extending driveway pavers to the rear of the house and adding wrought iron or aluminum balustrades to the front and side porch steps.
C. RENOVATION, MINOR:
- 612 Pine Street: Howard Helenbrook – Plans to replace two front vinyl windows and an existing wooden rear fence with wooden picket fence.
- 614 Pine Street: Howard Helenbrook – Intention to replace six vinyl windows with two similar ones.
D. RENOVATIONS, ADDITIONS, & NEW CONSTRUCTION:
- 535 Jefferson Avenue: Barnett and Vanessa Thourogood – Proposal includes constructing a rear deck, paver patio, and installing a rear outdoor shower.
- 122 Peach Street: Peachy Keen Getaway, LLC represented by Peacock Cottage LLC – Plans encompass removing and replacing front porch brick steps, updating porch step balustrades, and reconstructing a two-story addition with a porch.
Residents and stakeholders are encouraged to attend the meeting to learn more about these proposed changes.
