CAPE CHARLES, Va. — The Cape Charles Planning & Zoning Administrator’s Office is fully immersed in preparing for a significant public hearing on proposed Zoning Ordinance Text and Map Amendments. This major initiative has involved compiling extensive documents, issuing legal advertisements, and handling a surge in calls and meetings with property owners seeking clarity on the potential impacts to their neighborhoods.
The hearing marks a critical milestone for the department as it seeks to address zoning updates that could shape the future development of the town.
Special Training Session
In addition to hearing preparations, the office is planning a training session for contractors, builders, developers, and realtors in collaboration with Building Official Jeb Brady. Scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2024, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Cape Charles Civic Center, the session will cover updates to the 2021 Building Code and related topics, including:
- Chesapeake Bay Act compliance
- Tree permitting processes
- Historic District requirements
- Zoning forms and procedural updates
