Last Thursday evening, folks returning home from work near Monroe and Nectarine Streets found the area secured by Town and County police vehicles. On March 3, 2016 at 6:07 pm the Cape Charles Police Department responded to a call at a residence in Cape Charles of a male, David M. Checker holding a gun to his head. While officers were responding to the scene the caller then called back and stated that Mr. Checker was now holding the gun to her head. After a short standoff with police, Checker gave himself up and was taken into custody.
David M. Checker of Cape Charles was arrested and charged with:
1.Attempted robbery
2.Use of firearm in commission of a felony
3.Brandishing a firearm
4.Domestic assault
Other charges are pending. Mr. Checker is being held in Northampton Regional Jail without bond.
