The Cape Charles Public Works Team has been busy preparing the town for the holiday season while continuing to maintain regular operations.
Holiday Preparations
- Garlands have been installed on the light poles along Mason Avenue.
- Work has begun on decorating the park for Christmas.
During the absence of the Public Works Manager, Rick has taken charge and ensured the continuation of operations and completion of work orders.
Weekly Operations Highlights
Brush and Yard Debris
- Six full truckloads, approximately 1,020 cubic yards of brush, were collected and recycled.
Trash Collection
- Municipal trash cans (38 in total) are serviced daily.
Work Orders
- Replaced the tennis court timer.
- Evaluated LED lighting; replacement parts have been ordered.
Vehicle Maintenance
- Awaiting the final part for the 2013 Explorer repair.
Residential Trash Cans
- Delivered 5 new trash cans to residents.
- Picked up 2 cans no longer needed.
- Addressed contractor-missed pickups by dumping, swapping, and returning 3 cans.
Seasonal Grass Maintenance
- Routine grass cutting, weed eating, and edging have concluded for the season but will be monitored for any future needs.
