CAPE CHARLES, Va. — The Town of Cape Charles is set to host a full day of Independence Day festivities on July 4, featuring new events, returning favorites, and a fireworks finale off the beach.
New this year is a Basketball Free-Throw Challenge for youth ages 9 to 12, which will tip off the day’s activities at 8:15 a.m. at Cape Charles Baptist Church, located at 501 Randolph Avenue.
The annual July 4th Parade begins at 10 a.m. and boasts more than 100 entries, including local volunteer fire companies from Cape Charles, Cheriton, and Eastville, the U.S. Coast Guard, American Legion Post 56, the Northampton County Marching Band, the Book Mobile, and the Sheriff’s Office. Local officials like Commissioner of Revenue Consuelo Gonzalez and Browder Hite will also take part, along with antique cars, community groups, and a colorful array of patriotically decorated bicycles and golf carts.
Following the parade, the Street Fair opens at 11 a.m. along Bay Avenue, featuring a wide selection of artisans, food vendors, and entertainment.
Also kicking off at 11 a.m. are the Teen Basketball Tournament at “Breezy’s Arenda” on Washington Avenue—the former location of the Seabreeze Apartments—and the 4th Annual Cornhole Tournament on Mason Avenue.
The celebration will conclude with a spectacular fireworks display off the beach, lighting up the Chesapeake Bay and marking the holiday in signature Cape Charles style.
Town officials invite residents and visitors alike to come out and enjoy the festivities.

The town doesnt have the right to use Seabreeze for their basketball tournament. The entire property is unsafe for something like this. Breezys Arena? What a joke. Just like the entire town council and its police department.
Sounds like someone is bitter about losing their cheap waterfront housing.
Boycott Breezys Arena!!! Are you with me??
How would you like to lose your cheap fake antique store? Oh and BTW I didn’t lose anything. I’ve never lived there. But I do live nearby. And you know me very well. You see me almost everyday.
Cheap fake antique store? Someone has been eating bath salts again. You are easily identified due to your unhinged, nasty, and factually incorrect posts.
Pickleball princess sounds like a liberal loon. If they didn’t think Trump was a King, they could not refer to him as such. If they did not think white folks are superior, they could not refer to them as white supremacist. I bet she/he/it couldn’t make a pimple on a real princess’s rear end.
Pickleball Princess, perhaps the Town received permission to use the original Seabreeze property. Also, they will not be using the 207 and 209 buildings (the only two buildings considered “unsafe”) ; the event will be outside. Why do you feel this is an unsafe area to use?
You can’t get permission when there is no clear ownership. See yall on the pickleball court!
Why would you think there is no clear ownership? Just because you don’t know…
I would think that who pays the property taxes might be a hint. I wouldn’t hold the Pavement Princess’ comments into too high of a regard. She is trying to think, and wisdom is eluding her.
What clever town council person came up with the name “Breezy’s Arena”?
There is no shame. None.
What a great parade! Led by the American Legion and proud veterans it was followed up by the come here government parasite crowd. A group of wealthy golf cart owners sporting rainbow flags ( the Dollar General was out of the old Soviet flags ) and signs of “We support Federal Workers”. Typical well to do crowd of come here, living off of our tax dollar, hand out leftists, they couldn’t even throw a piece of bubble gum to the kids. Gray haired, soft, Woodstock hangovers, bitter and bemoaning unity, like the 2024 election didn’t end in a landslide. A parade meant to simply have fun and fly the flag, the left behind leftists had to double down on making themselves irrelevant. Soft weak losers thinking their dough balls are gonads. Semper Fideleis.
