CAPE CHARLES, Va. — The Town of Cape Charles is set to host an informational workshop aimed at short-term rental (STR) owners, managers, and other interested parties to ensure compliance with local regulations.
The event, titled “STR 101,” will take place on Wednesday, March 19, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Cape Charles Civic Center, located at 500 Tazewell Ave. The session will also be accessible online via Microsoft Teams.
Organized by the Town of Cape Charles, the workshop will feature presentations by town officials covering key topics such as business licensing, rental inspections, and upcoming changes to the STR ordinance. Ryan Silvey will lead a session on business, professional, and occupational licensing (BPOL), Jeb Brady will discuss rental inspections, and Planning & Zoning official Katie Nunez will outline how the current STR ordinance compares to next year’s regulations.
STR operators are encouraged to attend to gain a better understanding of licensing, inspections, and compliance requirements. The town emphasizes that while attendance is free, failing to meet licensing and inspection standards could result in costly fines and penalties.
The Town of Cape Charles urges all STR owners, property managers, and other stakeholders to take advantage of this opportunity to learn about their responsibilities and ensure compliance. For more information, attendees can visit www.capecharles.org or contact the town offices at (757) 331-3259.
