The contractor overseeing Phase 3 of the Community Trail project has marked substantial progress. The latest update includes the completion of north and south bump-outs along with crosswalks, aimed at bolstering pedestrian safety and accessibility. Adding to the project’s greenery, trees and shrubs have been diligently planted, infusing natural aesthetics into the trail’s surroundings. Despite these milestones, work on ADA ramps remains underway.
Collaboration with the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) reached a pivotal juncture with a comprehensive progress review meeting, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards and project timelines.
Meanwhile, the municipality remains actively engaged in various development initiatives, including the ongoing coordination with developers on the redevelopment of the Library Building. Such endeavors highlight a holistic approach towards community enhancement.
Proposals by the Home Builders Association (HBA) were reviewed. These proposals, centered on contract amendments for restructuring the Visitors Center & Restrooms Invitation for Bid (IFB) package, reflect a dedication to optimizing public amenities.
Efforts are underway to implement restrictive signage for sidewalks, the community trail, and other public spaces.
