Cape Charles, Virginia – The Cape Charles Historic District Review Board (HDRB) is set to convene for its regular meeting on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at 5:00 p.m., with a lineup of Certificate of Appropriateness applications topping the agenda.
Among the applications slated for review is the proposal for 644 Monroe Avenue. The applicant seeks approval to replace nine existing wood casement windows with six double glider composite windows on the sunroom.
Preceding the upcoming meeting, a Pre-Application Meeting was held on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at 1:30 p.m., shedding light on the proposed alterations. During the session, the applicant discussed plans to replace the front porch flooring with a different material. Seeking clarity on administrative approval procedures versus the necessity of appearing before the HDRB, the applicant engaged in a constructive dialogue with board representatives.
In response to the query, the applicant was apprised of pertinent sections of the Cape Charles Zoning Ordinance (CCZO), specifically Sections 8.16 (C) (3) (c) and 8.17 (B), delineating the criteria for future applications.
Following the comprehensive discussion, the applicant departed with all requisite information to facilitate the completion of the application process. The HDRB extended its assistance and welcomed the applicant to return the application to their office once prepared to advance with the project.
Residents and stakeholders are encouraged to participate in the upcoming meeting, underscoring the collaborative spirit that underpins the preservation efforts within the Cape Charles Historic District.
