Longtime Northampton County’s Commonwealth Attorney Bev Leatherbury has announced her retirement. She will step down at the end of May.
There are some decisions to be made. Leatherbury will petition the courts to avoid running a special election. Instead, Leatherbury will be replaced by two lawyers to handle the work of the Commonwealth’s Attorney.
Judge Revell Lewis will hear the petition, and if he grants the waiver, Jack Thornton, as the most senior attorney, will hold the position until the next election cycle.
Don Green says
What a loss for the County. She did the work of TWO Commonwealth attorneys!
Thom Thumb says
Who really cares if she works or retires…she never really had to work.
Andy Dufresne says
She’s worked behind the scenes, and yes she’s had help from two very capable young men. You are complaining like the local waterman who hate cops. You must have sat across from Bev at the bargaining table?
Stuart Bell says
Spoken like a true-to-life come-here…
True says
Looks like she was forced to resign – I heard the sheriff & other top deputies/county officials down there are about to be booted out.
