WASHINGTON, D.C. – This week, Congresswoman Elaine Luria led a letter to the Biden Administration urging the President to appoint a Senior Advisor to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator for the Chesapeake Bay and Anacostia River to continue working to improve the health of the Bay.
“The Chesapeake Bay generates $33 billion in economic value annually, and its health directly impacts Coastal Virginians’ livelihoods and the culture of our community,” said Congresswoman Luria. “While we have made significant progress, the health of the Bay is still deteriorating. A Senior Advisor to the EPA Administrator on the Chesapeake Bay will help pave the way to restoration.”
The Obama Administration appointed three Senior Advisors to the Environmental Protection Agency Administrator for the Chesapeake Bay and Anacostia River. Their work laid the foundation for the Chesapeake Clean Water Blueprint, which established the Bay’s total maximum daily load (TMDL), an agreement between seven jurisdictions within the watershed on levels of nitrogen, phosphorus, and sediment that can enter the Bay. The 2020 State of the Bay Report gave the Chesapeake Bay an overall score of 32 out of 70, a one-point decrease from 2018. A Senior Advisor dedicated to the Chesapeake Bay would give the EPA insight to its most pressing issues and provide expertise for effective regulations. To read the full letter, please see here.
During her tenure, Congresswoman Luria has been a vocal advocate for the Chesapeake Bay. In October 2020, the America’s Conservation Enhancement Act, which included her bill, the Chesapeake Bay Program Reauthorization Act, was signed into law. This bill authorized $455 million for the Chesapeake Bay Program over the next five years and supports local conservation projects.

This is just the beginning. Nancy and Uncle Joe want bigger government. Luria writes a letter, declares it necessary and POOF. The tax bill gets bigger. The CBF and it’s cronies have been promoting more and bigger government, and cancel club artists like Jay C. Ford. They come out with a statement that the work they are already getting us billed for is failing, and so the answer they say is to spend more money on more people they recommend that won’t do a better job, as history shows, and they want our support. What poop. The only way a business should get more money and support and workers is from good work. Not crummy work. Swamp member Luria doesn’t want to understand that concept.

So Scotiagirl needs to get this straight…Obama put 3 “senior advisors” on board with the EPA, yet the score for the condition of the Bay “decreased by 1”. And then Luria got involved with a bill that authorized $455 MILLION for the “Chesapeake Bay Program”. And now Luria would have us believe that the appointment of yet another “senior advisor” will be the panacea for the many ills affecting the Bay. Where does this end? Oh, Scotiagirl can figure it out…throw more money at it, just be sure it is “other people’s” money.
Always remember and never forget, Luria voted to impeach Trump. She may not have our interests foremost in her plans for the Eastern Shore.
