Yes, “Always remember the 5th of November…” as Scotiagirl and her ribald gang of British friends would chant as they carried effigies of the unfortunate Mr. Fawkes to be thrown on a huge bonfire. This after a night of eating, drinking and (in some cases, debauchery?!?). Actually, when living on her farm in Northern Virginia, she manage to accumulate a huge pile of debris (old fence boards, limbs from pruned trees, straw bales…) Since she had a willing group of Brits in her circle, a staff with canisters of gasoline and a big John Deere, it seemed a reasonable and fun thing to do on a chilled November night–Celebrate Guy Fawkes Day with a bonfire!
