The East Coast Surfing Championship at Virginia Beach normally runs ten blocks. This year, starting at the 1st Street jetty it will be one-half city block.
The current 50-person gathering limit means only staff and surfers can be in the sanctioned area. No spectators are allowed, so ECSC will livestream the event through its website and social media pages.
There will be no volleyball tournaments, action sports showcases (motocross, BMX, skateboarding), no Miss ECSC competition, and the vendor village is closed.

Two-hundred surfers are expected, but only a few will be allowed in the water at a time. Event coordinators plan to rotate surfers every 20 minutes, while others wait on either the boardwalk or in their car.
The championship starts Sunday August 23rd, and ends next Sunday August 30.
