The Cape Charles Baptist Church is thinking outside the box this Easter.
It is said the world should be a better place because a man has lived.
With that in mind, this Easter morning the church invites you to drop in any time between 10-10:40 a.m. to enjoy a free narrated tour of Jesus’ last days and hours on Earth prior to his rising from the grave and later ascending to Heaven.
Children and adults can walk away having experienced a fuller understanding of the man Jesus Christ and why, as God’s son, “He came as the savior of the world and remains the way to eternal life.”
During and after the tour, light refreshments will be served prior to our 11:15 a.m. service of song and worship. Children will be provided relevant pages to color during the service while all interested will leave with resources that include the Good News of the Gospel.
On Easter Sunday, they are substituting the regular Sunday School hour (which normally runs from 10-11) with staggered, narrated tours through our facilities that will be set up with six stations: the Triumphal Entry, the Last Supper, the Garden of Gethsemane, Calvary, the Temple Court, and the Empty Tomb.
Each tour will last about 20 minutes, so we will begin our staggered tours at 10 and stop them at 10:40. (After 10:40, we will provide other means of spiritual reflection until the worship service begins.)
At each station, narrators will answer the question: Why Does This Matter
After folks finish the narrated tour, they will provide light refreshments in our fellowship hall where they can mingle before they are guided to our seventh and final station, which will begin 11:15 a.m. in our sanctuary, where anyone who arrived after 10:40 already will be located.
That final station is identified as Worship, at which point a narrator will briefly explain to those just arriving what the first six stations were and that we now are at the seventh station and what its significance is to Easter. Worship will include a time of singing and deeper reflection, after which our pastor will close the service and we will provide every family (or single) a ministry package, which will include the Gospel and relevant/interesting items for each age group.
Pastor Goodrich told the Mirror via email, “I would be remiss if I didn’t share that our collective heart this year is to shed a different light on this very historic, very true event and why it still matters to our lives today … and why it matters to our lives forevermore.”
