Drivers Are Needed!
The Eastern Shore Free Rides to Vote program ensures that everyone who wants to vote, but does not have transportation, can obtain a free ride to the Accomack or Northampton registrar’s office for early voting or to the Accomack and Northampton precinct locations for election day voting.
The program is setup to minimize the effort and time of the drivers by having voters call a single dispatch number, having the dispatcher call the driver who supports the voter’s home address, having the driver call the voter to setup the ride on a day and time that is most convenient for the driver, and providing the transportation to and from the registrar’s office or precinct.
Drivers identify any days or times they cannot provide rides; drivers identify if they will provide rides only in their precinct, in their precinct and adjoining precincts, or in the entire county; drivers identify if they will provide rides for early voting, election day voting, or both; drivers decide the actual date and time for the ride; and drivers decide whether the rider needs to wear a mask.

Although some drivers are already available, more drivers are needed! Although living in the precinct is ideal, the driver does not have to live in the precinct, just be willing to pick up and return voters to their home in the precinct.
Please volunteer to help make voting more accessible by sending me an email at eschrag@me.com or a text at 757-709-2535 with your name, address, phone number, email address, and precinct name.
