EASTERN SHORE, Va. — Classical Conversations of the Eastern Shore has been awarded a $2,500 grant from the VELA Education Fund, a national organization that supports nontraditional and community-driven approaches to education.
The local homeschool community was selected from among 200 applicants nationwide. The winning entry included a PowerPoint presentation and a short video tour of the group’s campus, showcasing their commitment to hands-on, classical education outside the traditional K-12 model.
The grant funding will be used to purchase microscopes and biology supplies, and will also support an art-focused field trip for the 10th-grade class to visit a museum.
“This grant will help us expand opportunities for our students in both science and the arts,” said Jordan Dail, the local Classical Conversations representative. “The award will help fund microscopes and biology supplies and also fund an art field trip to a museum for the 10th grade class.”
Classical Conversations is a faith-based homeschooling program that blends classical education methods with small, local communities of learners. The Eastern Shore campus is still accepting students for the fall semester.
