This is heartbreaking. Part of the problem is that people can no longer afford to feed their animals due to what I believe is corporate price gouging. Our own pet food bill has doubled and no extras either. We take care of 12 animals, and it is astonishing how the companies have made money on the current situation in this country. Please help the Animal Control Facility as much as you can. Call them and ask what they need if you cannot adopt. These animals deserve all that we can do.
Agreed that the unprecedented overload of animals in shelters, a nationwide phenomenon. Most of us can do more to help out–by donating money or in-kind goods that shelters can use, by fostering animals to relieve the shelters’ space problems, and by adopting, if one has a suitable home and funds to maintain an animal. HOWEVER, the first reaction of people on the left to this problem is to cite “price gouging”, whatever that is, rather than to accurately pinpoint the principal cause of the high prices we’re experiencing: the unprecedented pouring of trillions of newly printed dollars into the economy while at the same time enacting regulations and taxes on businesses that serve only to decrease production. These phenomena have occurred, of course, during the past two years with the “American Recovery Plan” and succeeding government boondoggles.
